Services include, but are not restricted to the following:

Bomb Squad – Advanced Threat Assessment

This is a dynamic course that can be used as an enhancement to newly HDS qualified technicians, unit annual refresher, continuation training or for operators to maintain their high standards of skill keeping them fresh and up to date. This course can be tailored to focus on improving the individual’s effectiveness, ensuring the safety of their team and that of the general public. This course directly focuses on ‘Threat Assessment’ and is divided into theory and practical lessons of instruction (10%-90%). The Theory presentation reinforces the ethos of IED Disposal Operations with in-depth discussions of current and previous IED threats. The remaining time is then dedicated to a series of practical exercises, each of varying complexity, where individual Bomb Technician’s will be presented with realistic scenarios from current threats that will require them to perform a render-safe procedure. After each evolution, the Bomb Technician will receive a verbal assessment of their performance.

This course focuses on the Bomb Technician managing the scenario from start to finish, incorporating sound threat assessment through relevant and thorough questioning, being safe throughout, choosing the appropriate RSP that prevents unnecessary closure of public areas and ensuring correct techniques are used to preserve vital forensic evidence.

Returning the situation back to normality at earliest opportunity is paramount in the larger metro areas, while also ultimately, being safe, efficient, and professional when responding to any IED incident.

The advantage of this course is that it can also be tailored to encompass newly qualified personnel straight from HDS with threats that are homeland security based or offer the more seasoned individual an opportunity to exercise their skills taking into consideration a higher threat with a higher percentage of scenarios based on the higher threat terror organizations operating worldwide.

Bomb Squad – IED Electronics

IED Electronics is a course instruction that all Bomb Technicians should be up to speed with. Starting with the basics, the course is part electronic theory and part practical with the emphasis on hands on component identification and actually making typical IED circuits. Theory training discusses how electricity actually works along with an introduction to the basic components in a circuit including resistors, capacitors, timers, relays, semi-conductors and many more. This course is taught by EOD operators, that have been down range and RSP’d countless IED’s in many different austere environments.  The main advantage ET Solutions has is we actually know what an Bomb Technician needs to know on the ground and we don’t try to be the cleverest guy in the room.

Basic circuits will be built onto breadboards, fault finding until they work as designed, then these are transferred and soldered onto circuit boards. ET Solutions have found it far more beneficial to allow the Bomb Technicians to rebuild the breadboard circuit on to a manufactured circuit board, including soldering all connections and components. This procedure improves and enhances fault finding skills and overall electrical knowledge. The circuit is then discussed as to what relevance each component has within an IED with examples from real scenarios.

IED Electronics is not designed to make Bomb Technicians into electronic gurus. We take operators from no knowledge of Electronics to a competent and confident level of understanding in 5 days.  This is the problem with many of the previous courses of instruction most operators have attended.  These have gone into too much depth theoretically and have not concentrated on building through soldering onto PCB and providing an understanding of how each component relates within the IED.  Rather this course is designed to offer maximum hands on and provide a realistic appreciation of typical components and how they are used in an IED. We want you to be able to learn by building these circuits and retain the useful knowledge that is required by an Bomb Technician.  Due to the extensive and varied nature of electronics and component availability this knowledge will aid in PID in terms of technical intelligence and forensic recovery.

Bomb Squad – Advanced Manual Techniques

This would practice the Bomb Technicians when dealing with possible Category ‘A’ incidents.  The pre requisite to this course is all Technicians must have attended a basic Electronics course previously and be familiar and knowledgeable of common electrical components.  The course will start with a brief revision of electricity and components expected in such situations.  Following the revision we discuss hostage handling drills, stabilization techniques, X-ray interpretation, access procedures using various hand and powered tools against many different materials. Access through different media such as wood, metal, and plastics requires much thought as they all have their own characteristics and without practice are difficult to penetrate with sufficient finesse to minimize the effect on a possible trigger. Therefore, much of this course is dedicated to access practice.  This will be followed by an introduction into circuit diagnostics both visually and equipment based using various equipment’s.

This course is designed to increase the Bomb Technicians skills required to assess, control, and defeat a Category ‘A’ type device using intelligence gained during the incident. The Bomb Technician will be required to plan and execute a render-safe procedure to where the situation is resolved or normal IED procedures could be implemented.

Bomb Squad – Category A in Extremis

This course concentrates on what an operator can do when confronted with a Cat ‘A’ situation when there is no opportunity to evacuate a large number of civilians, what should an operator do when opening a suspicious container and it contains an IED circuit with real initiating system(s)?

Do we touch, move or cut? What do we cut, and do we have the necessary tools to do so?

This course can help answer those questions and has several options to choose from.

Bomb Squad – Alarm Diagnostics and Defeat

This course provides all the electrical concepts, alarm system analysis, and diagnostic knowledge required to be able to defeat basic wired alarm systems. The course discusses alarm system types, system operation and components, along with both electronic and non-electronic means of defeat.

The Alarm Diagnostics and Defeat course will be 5 days duration and terminates with a realistic alarm based simulated training scenario that Bomb Technician’s are required to navigate. This course and the supplementary course may possibly be taken together depending on Unit commitments and availability.

Bomb Squad – Alarm Diagnostics and Defeat Supplementary

This 1 day supplementary course expands on the diagnostics and defeat of basic alarm systems to include monitored alarm systems based on End of Line Resistor (EOLR) technology. The Bomb Squad Alarm Diagnostics and Defeat course is a pre-requisite to this course. This course and the Alarm Diagnostics and Defeat course may possibly be taken together depending on Unit commitments and availability.

Bomb Squad – Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device

ET Solutions has successfully taught this course of instruction to many teams and the results speak for themselves. Please contact us for specific data on deployment drills timings post course. Review and assess the levels of operator skill for attacking and neutralizing a vehicle containing an IED. This is dependent on the ROV being utilized in your department. Deployment drills will be tailored to suit that equipment. Going through several options from: suspect package in vehicle, side entry, rear entry, inserting charges into the vehicle. Fast deployment of weapon systems. This would also include instruction on how to modify and improvise materials to use as trunk extraction and defeat tools, large side opening and defeat weapon system, improvised back-pack and carry on water disruption charges, improvised cutting charges, bowl charges etc. Save thousands on overly expensive and prefabricated tools. Main emphasis would be on timings out of the ICP with a suitable weapon system. This course can greatly enhance your organization’s skills and readiness.

Bomb Squad – Post Blast Investigation

“Do less and recover more” is the motto of this course. Not a phrase we in EOD are accustomed to hearing, quite the opposite actually. This course will take the operators through all the stages from Post Blast to evidence recovery and hand over. Discussing both OCONUS Tactical Non-Permissive actions and CONUS Federal requirements.

This course has minimal theory/classroom effort with majority of time allocated to suitable range for evidence recovery.

Course will discuss: Photography, Sampling, Grid search, IED component recognition, Report compilation and general forensic protocols.

Bomb Squad – Search

ET Solutions has developed this course for all EOD personnel. This concentrates on operator search: Ground Sign Awareness, Tripwire and metal detection, vehicle general & specific 8 point check and finally large venue building searches. This can be incorporated into any of the other courses or a standalone course.

Service Cost

The cost of above courses will depend on many factors; what course you require, your geographical location, number of instructors required, and how many operators you want to attend the training package. Finally, the duration of the package will determine the overall quote for our services. ET Solutions have not increased their costs since the company started back in 2017. We believe in honest pricing and offering the EOD community best quality of training at a fair price. Not everything should be painted black so we can charge more right.
